DOK HOSPITAL CELEBRATES WORLD BLOOD DONOR DAY

SANDAKAN: Sabah Health and People’s Wellbeing Minister Datuk Frankie Poon will officiate the Duchess of Kent Hospital (DOK) level World Blood Donor Day this Aug 18.

This was disclosed by Head of DOK Blood Transfusion Department Dr. Sarah Mat Noh after she and several other officers paid a courtesy call on Poon at his office earlier this week.

The programme will be held at the Selingan Hall of DOK from 9.00 to 11.00 am with a blood donation campaign, presentation of appreciation certificates to regular blood donors, organisers among the highlights, she said.

Dr. Sarah briefed the Minister on their preparations for the programme. She was accompanied by Blood Transfusion Department senior medical officer Dr Lim Shueh Wan, DOK Public Relations Officers Roslan Rungan and Mohd Aman Abdullah.

The blood donation campaign is organised jointly with Life Water Industries Sdn Bhd from 8.00 am to 1.00pm at the same venue. The public who wish to donate blood can register online at http://bit.ly/190526_bloodcampaign for a limited edition gift.

Closing date for the online registration is Aug 15. All other successful donors during the campaign will also receive a gift from the organisers.

World Blood Donor Day is celebrated annually on June 14. This year’s theme is “Safe Blood For All”.
