KOTA KINABALU: A Sabah PKR leader is curious how many times a group of party members, led by Datuk Karim Ghani, has threatened to leave the party.
State PKR disciplinary chief Sazalye Donol said Karim had made the same threat several times, including once publicly last year.
This follows Karim’s recent statement that more than 100 members would be leaving the party and that he would hold a press conference on Friday (June 19) to announce the matter.
Sazalye said Karim, who is former PKR election machinery strategy chairman, had, on several occasions, done things that contravened the party’s constitution and questioned his party membership, as well as those linked to his group.
Citing an example, he said Karim and one Datuk Nani Sakam had, in 2019, held a press conference accusing the party leadership of ignoring their welfare and claiming that some 75% of members were leaving the party if the leaders continued ignoring them.
“This is an offence under PKR’s code of ethics which forbids any member from making public statements that are slanderous or with the intent to shame members, ” he said.
Sazalye said the duo had also mentioned their intention of leaving the party at the 2019 press conference.
“Anyone who publicly announces they are leaving the party will risk having their membership automatically stripped, ” he said.
