Selangor is a very accessible state to visit for tourists. Under Tourism Selangor’s #TakeMeAnywhere campaign, the Smart Selangor free bus lets both locals and visitors explore the different districts within the state.
Tourism Selangor general manager Noorul Ashikin Mohd Din said: “Tourism Selangor is ready to host prestigious local and international events. The tourism fraternity is ready and well-prepared to cater to the needs of tourists by providing the best in food, accommodation, as well as cultural and heritage experiences.”
This year, Tourism Selangor is planning to hold several major events and host numerous festivals and competitions, including Selangor WorldChef Battlefield, Retromania Gathering, Kejohanan Bola Tampar Antarabangsa Piala Datuk Bandar, Wings of Kuala Kubu Baru, PJ Half Marathon, Inov8 Eco Trail Run and Klang Heritage Festival.

Selangor Golf Amateur Open 2019 (July 8)
The Selangor Golf Amateur Open will be held at the Lake Golf Club in Bangi, a venue which received the “Most Improved Golf Course From Malaysian Golf Awards” three years in a row from 2015 to 2017. About 120 golfers will take part in the tournament. Tourism Selangor will collaborate with the Malaysian Golf Association to organise the event.
Bon Odori Festival (July 20)
This year’s Japanese-Malaysian Cultural Exchange event will be held at the Shah Alam National Sports Complex Panasonic, with an expected attendance of over 30,000 participants. It will be the 43rd instalment of the annual event. The festival is an opportunity for visitors to learn about Japanese culture. There will be a Bon Odori dance, drum performance and more.
Selangor International Indigenous Arts Festival (Aug 3 & 4)
This year’s Selangor International Indigenous Arts Festival will be its fifth. The event is based on a global theme of World Day Celebrations set by the United Nations: the International Year of Indigenous Language. Some of the the activities planned include a traditional house exhibition, handicraft exhibition, photo exhibition, art bazaar and Ulat Sagoo eating championship. There will also be a food village by the Sabah-Sarawak Heritage Association KL.
Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta (Aug 16 to 24)
Now in its 30th year, the regatta comprises three overnight passage races – 418km in total – plus three days of harbour or inshore racing in Penang and Langkawi. The event attracts a large variety of yachts, from top class IRC racers to slower classic cruisers dating back over 100 years.
